Hello again from Siberia. Novosibirsk is pretty brisk in December, around zero every day, lower at night. Yet they still sell ice cream on the street - very strange. The TV is very bad. I could be a genius network executive here for sure. They follow a children's cartoon with ads for beer and lingerie. Then they show an old Soviet movie from the 1930s. Or a badly dubbed western movie. Often only one person does all the voices, with no attempt to lip synch or do any acting. And you can hear the English in the background when they take a breath.

Thanks to Anita Rowland for suggesting a search on "upload form," which got me to SitePoint: Uploading Files Using CGI and Perl. I got the script running and it should do the trick.

While we were in Siberia, I found I couldn't post pictures to the web because the network in the Hotel Sibir blocks FTP. Email and HTTP worked fine. Does anyone have an idea of how to upload pictures without using FTP? I suppose I could send them as email attachments to a friend and have the friend do the FTP, but I am hoping to find a more direct method. Email me if you know the answer - thanks! Looks like we may be back there soon.

OK, we're back from Russia to a nice rainy 46°F Seattle. It never got above freezing the whole time we were in Russia. Speaking of freezing, the first cryonics case in Toronto happened while we were gone. Ben Best offers a fascinating detailed look at how their local response team managed.
