I picked up a penny on the sidewalk today, as I usually do when I see one. If it takes a second to stop and stoop down, and another second to pick it up and stand back up, that's 2 seconds work for 1 cent. This works out to $18.00 an hour (tax free). But if your time is worth more than that, you're losing money picking up a penny.
