Zoka Coffee and Tea House, 2200 North 56th Street, Seattle (near Greenlake) was suggested by Alex H., who called them and says they confirmed that they have free 802.11b wireless. I also had the suggestion of the Microsoft cafeteria, but that's not open to the public.

Some other possibles (not confirmed):

  • SureShot Espresso, 4504 University Way NE
  • Espresso Cafe Roma, 4201 University Way NE
  • Zeitgeist Coffee, Pioneer Square and Capitol Hill
  • Capitol Hill Internet Cafe, 215 Broadway E
  • Cafe Stellina, Union and 21st Ave
  • All King County Libraries, esp. the one at Crossroads, where you could get a latte at Starbucks and saunter on over to near the library.

It would be great to sit in a coffee house drinking a latte and browsing the web using WiFi. But so far as I know, this is only possible locally at certain Starbucks using T-Mobile connections, for which they charge what seems to me to be a pretty high price. Does anyone know of coffee houses with free WiFi - either in Seattle, the Eastside or anywhere in King County? Let me know and I'll post a list.

We've just adopted two small children. We are being kept very busy, so I don't think I will be updating this weblog very often. --Richard
