Bill Tapia Bill Tapia is a ukulele player, still going strong at 96 years old. As a boy in Oahu, he lived across the road from the Portugese man who invented the ukulele and bought his first uke from him. Bill played at the 1927 opening of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, and also at the 75th anniversary - the only person to be at both events. There's a touching story in the LA Times.

Bill Tapia will be a featured performer at Uke Fest West later this month in Santa Cruz. It will be wonderful to hear him play.
